None. You get a deduction for whatever they can sell it for. They will auction it wholesale and get a very low rate.
If you want a better deal, sell it yourself.
Sadie’s advice is hopelessly wrong. If you donate a car to the fire department and they sell it, then you are limited to the amount they got for it. If you donate and they USE it, then you can take the FMV of the donation–you’d possibly need an appraisal–and then only as an itemized donation.
The years of hey, I donated a junker to the salvation army and took a an unsubstantiated $6000 writeoff using the kelly bluebook value is OVER.

You can write off 10% of the car’s value as a deduction on your taxes if you donate it to a fire dept.
Here in Wisconsin my local fire dept. use the cars for training, they light the vehicles on fire and then practice putting them out…they don’t sell the cars.

An organization that plans to use the car itself, rather than sell it. If the organization uses the car itself, and does not sell it, you can deduct the value. If the organization does not use the car, and sells it for less than its value, then you can deduct only the amount for which the organization sold it.
