Some of my friends advice me not to move my car here as they have different emission rules requiring me to spend $$ in repairs.Do you think I could make those changes in my car in OH itself and take my car or should I just sell this and buy another one there.

Dont you need your car to get out there? Or are you getting a U-haul?
When does your registration expire? If it expires in a LONG time, KEEP the car. Reason being, car insurance will most likely be double in CA than OH. Keep your car registered in OH until it runs out. It will save you $, and might offset the money you have to pay when you re-register the car in CA. Re-registering the car will also cost $250 +/-. But it will have to be up to Ca emission codes.
It has its pros and cons.
