I need to find a rental car place in Sacramento, CA that will rent a car to my boyfriend (who is 23) and let him take it to Vancouver, WA and back.

The only places I’ve been able to find online are airport places and I don’t know if they let you take them out of the state. My boyfriend said that there’s places that wont let you take them across the Oregon border.. so I don’t know.

I NEED HELP. I have about a month.
It has to be a rental car, because I have to take all my stuff back with him cause I’m moving in with him, he’s just coming here and I’m going back with him. I need like an SUV type car or something.

ok so I didn’t grow up around ANY of my extended family. So that means I don’t know my cousins from either my father’s or my mother’s side. They all live in Los Angeles, Ca and my parents moved my siblings and I to Sacramento, Ca in 1990 so my younger sister and I are seen as aliens by our aunts, uncles, and tons of cousins.

Well I tried getting close with my cousin who is my age (both 20) and frankly I just don’t get her. She’s my mom’s niece and she has 3 other sisters. Their father is a doctor so they have everything they ever wanted.

My cousin insists that she has it tough. She was complaining to me about how every weekend she has so much to do, but all her friends take her out and she just wants to stay at home and wash her brand new car that her dad bought her.

She lives rent free and only pays her car insurance. I want to smack her in the head. We’ve never had it well at all. We lived in poverty.

How do I politely tell her to SHUT UP?!
Living in poverty meaning we went months without a car, we went days without food, we shopped regularly at the thrift store, we had to stick together through bad times.

All my cousin ever talks about is how much she and her sisters fist fight and hate each other.

Right now I have a full time job, but I don’t even have a car! I don’t even have friends to go out with.

I’m not blaming her for my hardships, but its like is she seriously complaining about her life? She has it made!

last night I was coming home from Sacramento going south on highway 99, outside of Madera on avenue 7 just about a two miles from Herndon ave exit there was a these bright white lights shining from the NE behind me. At first I thought it was car high beaming me, but as I look back the car was a little ways away… I looked at the lights again and there were 4 distinct lights. 3 in a line and 1 on top. At first again I thought it was an airplane, but it was moving way too smoothly to be a plane plus it didnt have any blue or red lights that would indicate it was a plane, I thought it was going to crash, but then it flew off again. Funny thing I never seen a plane flew off so close from the ground before that easily. Whatever it was if freaked out my wife out as well. We tried piecing it together, but we still cant expalin what we saw. I know there was car behind me as well, may he/she saw something, but man it was freaky. it happened just abour 10:50pm anyone saw anything? fill me in.

My wife & I are first timers here in California. We are presently residing in Sacramento County. I wish to know what requirements do I need to bring to a car dealer when purchasing a car. We don’t have any credit history yet. Do I need to bring my wife’s paycheck to show that we have a stable income? She’s presently working as a nurse, as for me, I’m staying home while I watch our daughter. Do I also need to bring utility bills as proof that we have the capability to pay? What else do I need to bring? We have credit cards but it’s still new. We just got our cards less than two months ago. So, our credit history may be considered as low in rating.

Photographs taken of Liam Johns’ crib by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office clearly show where it came apart.

The drop rail had detached from its plastic track, creating a gap through which the 9-month-old boy slipped feet-first. Instead of falling to the floor, Liam got his head stuck between the rail and the mattress. Trapped in a hanging position, the boy asphyxiated.

Liam’s April 2005 death prompted an investigation by a federal watchdog agency and a family lawsuit against the crib’s manufacturer, Simplicity Inc.

But the company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission didn’t warn parents across the country about the potentially fatal flaw in Simplicity cribs–not after Liam suffocated, not after more complaints about the crib rails and not after two more infants died.

Once the Tribune began questioning the company and the agency this month, a massive recall of Simplicity cribs followed.

On Friday, the CPSC took action on 1 million cribs, including the model that the Johns family used for Liam. It is the largest recall of full-size cribs in the agency’s history.

In its Hidden Hazards series, the Tribune has documented how the understaffed and sluggish CPSC fails to protect children from dangers in toys and other products. The paper’s examination of Simplicity’s popular cribs underscores that, even in the aftermath of a child’s death, the agency can fall short in its watchdog role, leaving children vulnerable to a documented hazard.

Interviews and records show that the federal investigator assigned to Liam’s death failed to inspect the crib in his initial inquiry and didn’t track down the model or manufacturer.

“We get so many cases,” the investigator, Michael Ng, said in an interview this month. “Once I do a report, I send it in and that’s it. I go to the next case. We could spend more time, but we are under the gun. We have to move on.”

Only last week, after inquiries by the Tribune, did Ng return to California to find the crib. It had first been held as evidence by sheriff’s police and later was put in storage by a lawyer retained by the family.

Even with the recall, it remained unclear why it took so long to address the problem. The CPSC often gets bogged down in negotiations with companies over recalls because fedx eral law limits its powers and its ability to disclose details of its investigations into dangerous products.

Nancy Cowles, a child-product safety advocate and executive director of Kids In Danger, called for congressional hearings to look into the delay. “Was it because the CPSC has no power and the company was able to stall?” she asked.

When first presented with the Tribune findings this month, Julie Vallese, spokeswoman for the CPSC, said the agency could not comment about Simplicity. “We have more than one investigation open, and that’s why I can’t answer any questions,” she said.

In announcing the recall Friday, the CPSC blamed a flawed crib design and hardware that allowed parents to install the drop rails upside down, which can cause the rail to detach from the frame. The agency said it was aware of seven non-fatal cases of infants being trapped and 55 other cases of drop-rail problems.

It also linked the Simplicity cribs to three deaths but did not release the names of those children or the dates of the fatal accidents.

One of those children was Liam Johns, records show. Another was 6-month-old Edward Millwood, who died in November 2006 in Georgia. The third was 8-month-old Royale Arceneaux, who died in February in Houston. All three children fell between the mattress and a separated drop rail.

The drop rails in those deaths had been installed upside down. But the agency also found two incidents in which correctly installed drop rails failed to work properly.

Ken Waldman, president of Simplicity Inc., said in an interview Friday that the company makes safe products and works closely with the CPSC to fix any problems. He would not say why the recall did not occur earlier.

“This is the thing to do and that’s why we decided to do it now,” he said.

The Aspen 3 in 1, once Simplicity’s best-selling crib, accounted for the bulk of the recall. About 600,000 of those models, which are no longer made, were recalled.

I’m flying to Sacramento in a few weeks for the weekend and weighing whether I’ll take the shuttle down from my home in Everett or drive my car and park it right at the airport or at one of the external lots.

To those of you that travel frequently in and out of Seattle – which parking do you recommend? My car is brand new so a bit nervous but I’m not sure if the shuttles allow cats in them – I’m heading out of town for a cat show and will have one of mine with me.

Which ones have you been most satisified with and approximate cost to park it in their secured lot from early Fri AM to late Sun PM?

I have years of food service experiance, Also child care experiance, My husband is good at sales, neither of us can get hired! We moved in with family, at families request, but I’m starting to feel like a mooch,and even though I kept my last job for 8 years and was a manager, I have no education, and don’t want to live here long enough to get one.(after hte move maybe) We’ve gone broke, have no privacy,I’m starting to panic.I will not move back to Oregon I hated it there,and it is not a healthy place for my kids.We are at a total loss,Not even a fast food place will give us the time of day. How might one prevent the proposed sale to developers a parcel owned by Sacramento Regional Transit District located on Cemo Circle in Gold River {Rancho Cordova}California. Designated as Bus Rapid Transit it should not result in condominiums but should be used as park and ride/ bus car park and paired with a route traversing nearby Citrus Rd. closed to autos & currently maintained as a bike trail by Sacramento County on one of the most congested corridors in a 6 county area. Electric trolley or bus would shuttle commuters to the Sunrise Light Rail station only one half mile distance by passing underneath highway 50 and arriving within 5 minutes to Sunrise light rail station. Sale of this property seems to violate RT’s stated Values/purposes and simultaneously will render useless an expensive bridge abuttment over the American River designed to carry a light rail car. 5000 residences and businesses exist in this 25 yr old area between the river and the highway with NO bus service. YUBA CITY, Calif. — Authorities investigating a fatal crash in California say they found a dead driver’s laptop computer in the wreckage. It was still running.

They believe the man was using the computer while driving. It was plugged into his car’s cigarette lighter.

An official responsible for monitoring how federal funds for volunteerism are spent told FOX News he was fired by President Obama for doing his job, and suggested it was payback for investigating the alleged misuse of grant money by the Sacramento mayor, an Obama backer.

Gerald Walpin, who until last week was the chief internal watchdog for AmericCorps and other service programs, suggested “political pressure” was behind his ouster. He said he worried the action will have a “chilling effect” on other inspectors general.

Obama gave little explanation for the decision, writing in a letter sent Thursday that he no longer had the “fullest confidence” in Walpin.

The president’s decision followed Walpin’s investigation into the alleged misuse of federal grants by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, a former NBA star and an Obama supporter who heads a nonprofit education group.

“I am the victim of being fired because I was doing my job and doing it properly,” Walpin told FOX News Tuesday. He said he could not let concern for “political pressure” interfere with his staff’s pursuit of the investigation — noting that it was his staff, not him personally, that pursued the inquiry.

He also defended the findings, saying AmeriCorps requested the investigation in the first place.

Walpin said the probe revealed that Johnson “misused” AmeriCorps volunteers for “personal purposes,” by having them help in political campaigns and even wash his car.

“They never disputed it whatsoever,” Walpin said. “And indeed the agency itself found that our statements were correct and our findings were correct.”

A friend of mine is in need of a vehicle but cannot afford one. She is 23 years old and has 3 children- twin sons age 6, and a 5 month old daughter. When she was 17 years old, she was raped and 9 months later, her boys were born. Anyways, she needs a car so that she can go back to work, as well as take her sons to school. She cannot afford a car because 2 months ago, her apartment was set on fire by her ex, and she lost everything. All her money went toward replacing her stuff and getting a new place. Anyone know of any charities that would help her aquire a vehicle?
She lives in the California, in the SF Bay area to be more precise.
