Want to donate a 14 y/o car without the title. Would I still be liable today for any balance?

04 Sep

I would like to donate a 14 year old Lexus to a charity. It no longer runs. I do not hold the title. In 2001 I lost my job in California and did not get steady work again for about 2.5 years. Back in 2001 I had a remaining balance of $3200. I was not able to make my payments back then and the bank did not want to repossess the car but instead elected to charge off the car, which was a severe ding on my credit report. The bank which held my auto loan has long been out of business and was bought by another bank. I moved to Texas for steady work in 2004. In considering donating the car to a local charity, will I still have any liability for any kind of payment, or damages if people at the salvage yard get hurt in the vehicle?
Thanks for your help.

You just won £12 on the lottery after your new car, new house and donations what do you buy?

19 Aug

So you just won £12 millon and you have already spent the following:

£2m to Family members,
£2.5m on 3 Houses, (1 – US, 1 – UK, 1 – Monte Carlo)
£1m to Charity,
£1m on exotic sports Cars
£.5m on Boats

Leaving you with £5 million producing roughly £20,000 a month on interest alone (An Annual Salary of £250,000) you don’t really want any more Exotic cars or houses.

Holidays? Special Ideas? Cars or houses of special interest? Memorabilia?

Thanks
£ this is a Pound sign it is the curreny used in the United Kingdom. For your sake just pretend you are using your American $’s OR whatever currency you use. The pound is worth of your $$$$’s so that would mean winnings of $24 million.

and a yearly salary of $500,000
6 people in the UK won 6.4million last weekend on the euromillions lottery. Its not a scam it happens.

How can I get the most money for my old junky car?

12 Aug

I bought the car from a “dealer” for $750. He gave me a warranty. I probably should have used more discresion, but was desperate for wheels. Anyway, found out that the brakes are bad and getting worse everyday. There are also a few leaks. The guy won’t communicate with me or help me at all. At first he said he would give me my money back, then said he didn’t even have that much money to give me. Now when I call him he hangs up, if he answers the phone at all in the first place. It’s a 91 Honda and probably would be fine for someone if the brakes and leaks were taken care of. I just can’t afford to do it. How can I get the most money for it? I realize that I won’t make it all back, but are there any other options besides craigslist and donations?
Thanks!

What do I do if I didn’t return my Maryland license plates?

10 Aug

I recently donated my car to charity. It was picked up while I was at work and I left the plates on the car (I come from a state where you don’t have to return any plates and I had no idea you had to do this). Now I find that I should have returned the plates.

Any ideas what I should do now? What will happen to me if I do nothing?

What is the difference between taking the standard deduction and itemizing?

04 Aug

I donated a car to charity and it sold for less than $500.00 and also we moved more than 50 miles so we know we can get some amount for our travel expenses but is this worth the trouble of itemizing and added this stuff to the charity deductions? I’m trying right now to do this but I’m not sure if it’s worth all this headache.

What should I do?

Thanks!

Donating My Car (to a Veterans Charity) what to expect?

29 Jul

6.29.2010 (tuesday)

I’m moving out of state for school and i won’t be needing a car so i decided to donate it to The National Veterans Service Fund Vehicle Donation Program.

They are scheduled to pick up the car on thursday.
I already know that i have to surrender my plates (i’ll do that tomorrow) to the MVC
and i know that i have to give the car title to the tow company:

1. Do i have to sign over the title or leave it blank?
2. Am i supposed to get any paperwork from the charity as proof that the car was donated?
I read that they send you info once the car has been sold.
3. Is there anything else i should know/expect during this process?

thanks in advance! :)

I am a student at Bristol Community College, and I am started a club called ACE-association of Childhood Education. Our first project consist of putting together back packs filled with necessity items such as socks, hygienic and sanitary items and underwear etc. for foster children. However; we want to go about getting the community involved also aside from us having back sales and car washes. So how would I go about writing a letter to retailers for donations? I have an FID# I just need a format for this letter. Someone please help.

Do junkyards ever pay something (or tow for free) non-running cars for the parts?

22 Jul

I have a 1984 Lincoln Town Car that hasn’t been running for years. The body is good and the interior is somewhat luxury and undamaged. I tried to donate it but charities don’t want it because it was always something of a lemon mechanically and is too hard to fix.

Do junkyards ever pay for non-running cars in order to have parts? Or do they ever tow a car at no charge in order to have the parts?

Wording for Donation Only Car Wash?

17 Jul

Our youth group is holding a FREE car wash fundraiser. Basically, we heard that you raise more money when you just let people donate whatever they want. I’m making flyers and at the top it says “FREE CAR WASH” because that’s what it is. Nobody is required to make a donation. However, I do want to put emphasis that donations are accepted without sounding pushy. Does “Donations Appreciated” sound good? Any other ideas/suggestions?

Does someone know of a web site where one can request a car as a gift?

10 Jul

I am on social security disability, and I receive a low income each month. I am in dire need of a decent & reliable car to get me to my dr. appts, bank, errands, etc.

Does anyone know of a web site where I can make a request where I could possibly receive a car as a donation/gift?

Thanks!
